Virginia M. Feather
Virginia Movee Feather, 95, of Three Oaks, Michigan died Wednesday morning, March 5, 2014 at her home while sleeping peacefully.
Virginia was born January 29, 1919 in Laketon, Indiana to Blondell and May (Smoke) Berry. She was the youngest of five children. Her mother died of Spanish flu when Virginia was three weeks old and Virginia’s father died when she was six months old. Her Uncle Thomas and Aunt Myrtle (Smoke) Lykens adopted her and raised her as their own. Virginia earned her BA Degree at Western Michigan University. She became a teacher and taught school at Sparta, South Haven, Chikaming, New Troy and St. Mary of the Lake schools. On July 19, 1945 she married James W. Feather in Laramie, Wyoming. He preceded her in death on December 10, 1994. Virginia was a member of the Three Oaks United Methodist Church. God, family, and community were important to her.
Survivors include her children, Sally Preece of Three Oaks; John (Susan) Feather of Lancaster, Kentucky and Mary (Robert) Todd of Three Oaks; grandchildren, Beth Foster, Jeremiah Preece, David (Jackie) Feather, Michael (Amanda) Feather, Joy (Brent) Steffen and Daniel (Rebecca) Todd; great grandchildren, James Cleary, Shawn, Ethan, Maya, Isaac, and Sage Preece, Austin, Isabella, James and John Feather, Hannah, Alexa, and Lydia Steffen, Jules and Skye Foster, Mark and Eli Todd, and her step grandchildren, Jeramy Wright and Kayla Reynolds and honorary granddaughter, Becky Fleck Svoboda.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson James Preece; sisters, Harriet Berry and Mayme Landis and brothers, George Berry, Rex Berry and William Lykens.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 10, 2014 at the Three Oaks United Methodist Church with the Reverend Sherri Swanson officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Chikaming Township, Michigan. Visitation will be held from 4:00 til 7:00 pm on Sunday at Pobocik Funeral Home, Three Oaks.
