William L. Ross
William L. Ross, 79, of Three Oaks, Michigan died Sunday, July 20, 2014 at LaPorte Hospital.
Bill was born May 14, 1935 in Shady Springs, West Virginia. He was a self made man who learned by doing. Bill drove truck for Cassens Transport, first in Belvedere Illinois and later in Detroit, Michigan. He married Judith Hagen – Johnson on December 29, 1974 in Rockford, Illinois. They moved to Three Oaks and opened Jenny’s Antiques downtown. Bill had a knack for finding just the right antiques, restoring them, and selling them at the store. He also enjoyed dreaming of the day his ’67 Pontiac Firebird Convertible would be restored to drive in the Flag Day Parade. He and Judy recently enjoyed spending winters in Palm View, Texas. Bill was a member of the Three Oaks United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Ross; children, Phillip (Teresa) Ross, Bill (Tina) Ross, Greg Ross, Darci (Todd) Knapp and Jennifer (Adam) Williams of Three Oaks; grandchildren, Phillip Jr, James, Richard, Robin, Christie, Faith, Missy, Mandy, Josh, Kaitlyn, Benjamin, Sara, Leia and little Anna Marie due to join the family in November; great grandchildren, Riley, Callen, Zach, Kaylee, Jonathan, Wyatt, Wally, Colton and Kaitlyn and his brother, James (Jean) Ross of Mount Vernon, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his mother Virgie Rose, son Jeff, grandson Troy, and his sister Zella.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Three Oaks United Methodist Church with Reverend Sherri Swanson officiating. Fellowship will follow in the church hall.
